Popular Toys for 2018
Here are some toys that are the most popular picks for 2018. If you’re looking for gift ideas for your little kids, this is a good start.
Last year we got the terrarium and we kept it alive and growing for several months. It’s a toy that we enjoyed every day for a long time. I liked having something alive that Alexis could care for (no, we’re not getting a pet, so we have to take care of plants).
We really like things you can create, do or build. Natural or science-themed is also fun.
In addition, we love to get a Hello Kitty airplane, a Barby carriage, bus or a type of vehicle she can load her dolls into. This year we’re thinking of an ambulance.
Hatchimals and LOL dolls are still popular but I didn’t see any slime listed on the bestsellers! Maybe that trend is finally winding down…but we did include a slime gun that we got to try out recently.

Here’s a few more toys that we recently discovered that we loved…
Green Kid Crafts Subscription Box
Subscription boxes make wonderful gifts because they come every month for as long as you specify. You do projects with your kids and then watch their imagination and creativity soar. This is a favorite because it has more recycled materials and each box has several projects that cover art, science, engineering and math. The owner is a mom with an environmental science background and her goal is to raise future leaders who are well-rounded.
Guava Toys Slime Splatblaster
If you’re like us you want something to open and play with on Christmas morning after the presents are opened. This will get kids outside running around, plus it’s something you can do as a family. These Slime Splatblasters really are a blast! There are no arrows or parts to get lost. It squirts out a small bit of slime. We liked that it doesn’t hurt, like paintball does and it washed out of clothes (although I’d wear clothes that can get dirty). Kids from about age 7+ will be strong enough to cock the guns. Younger than that it’s a little difficult for them.
