Learn From Home for Kids While School is Out

It’s tempting to let the days slide into each other but it’s helpful to dedicate time each day to learning. It doesn’t have to be a drag or expensive either! Here are our top picks for educational resources kids can do at home. We hope that you enjoy our list and share it with others who might benefit. We give you the essential facts about each program, including the age ranges and subjects covered. There are programs for babies up to age 18 and each program has a different emphasis (several are for reading but there are all types).

4 Weeks to Read

This program is sent to you and none of it is online so no internet connection needed, however they do have an app but it’s mostly to access the songs, lesson plans and set reminders. They send you books, a CD and lesson plans in the mail so you have a physical copy. Instead of a monthly charge, you pay once and keep the materials. Teach your child to read – our review.

Prepare U Home Edition

This is a different type of learning program from the others on our list. It’s mental health education that teaches teens and pre-teens effective tools to decrease anxiety and depression, combat anger, problem solve, and boost relationship health while learning about the richness of your family history. This one isn’t cheap but it’s on sale right now and costs a lot less than therapy (which your teen may not want to go to and is expensive).

Stop Motion Academy

This is an entirely different option for kids and it’s $50 but it’s so amazing we just had to include it! It teaches kids how to do stop motion photography. It’s so fun and the woman who teaches it is so good at teaching. It really is first class and worth the money. It can give your kids marketable skills but more than anything it’s something unique and challenging in a different way that you won’t get at school.
