Zaycon Fresh Reviews: High Quality Meat That’s Healthy and Budget Friendly

You probably stumbled upon this page looking for Zaycon Fresh reviews?
I learned about Zaycon Fresh from a local blogger who raves about the company and the quality of their meat. Zaycon is a nationwide, popular retailer that has much higher quality fresh meat selection than the grocery store. The price is often 30-50% less than the grocery store prices. So it’s less than Costco, Sam’s Club and sales (from all the price checking). Plus, their food is SO FRESH, so it lasts so much longer than meat usually lasts. It comes straight from the supplier so there isn’t a middleman.
Here’s a selection of Zaycon’s high quality, direct from farm meats:

Zaycon High Quality Meat

Zaycon Fresh is like a co-op in which everyone pulls together and buys in bulk so you get premium product at a low price. The selection rotates depending on what is available, but you can always get ground beef and chicken products. They have all beef hot dogs right now that I’m interested in trying, or the Angus steak!

For summer grilling, look at the Hot Dogs, Steak, Ribs and Ground Beef (hamburgers!). The beef comes fresh, not frozen. The beef cattle have a grass diet which is supplemented by grain after they reach approximately 700 pound and are 100% grown in the USA. Also, there are no chemicals, additives or water added to meat during processing.

How it works

  • You order on Zaycon’s website and choose from what’s available – their inventory changes depending on supply. Seafood is less available than hamburger or chicken. Sign up for their newsletter to get availability and coupons. They do sell out of things so don’t wait if you see something you want.
  • Select a pickup location near you (they have locations all over the country).  You place the order online and pick it up locally, again to keep the costs lower for everyone.
  • Pick up your order at a designated time and place. It takes about 2 months from your order until it’s ready to be picked up. That’s because they actually get exactly what was paid for from the farm, no more or less. For me the orders arrive around 5:30pm on a weeknight. They send text reminders and an email. They often arrive early and will notify you so you can get there early. They bring a refrigerated semi truck full and you drive up, give your name, and they load your order into your car for you.
  • The quality is restaurant quality and from wholesalers/distributors who don’t sell direct to the public or if they do it’s lower quality.

Everything comes fresh, not frozen (ok, except for the salmon and the shrimp) and at excellent prices. I’m talking $1.69 for chicken breasts. When I saw the salmon offer I couldn’t resist. I’m trying to eat low carb and do more meal prep so this should make eating healthy fast, easy and affordable (especially considering the quality).

Here’s a video of me picking up my chicken order last month so you can see what it’s like:

Promo Codes

Who doesn’t like promo codes? I love them and I am sure you do too. You can often get coupons to save 20% off too. All you need to do is to signup for their newsletter and keep an eye out there for the coupon codes.

My Review of Zaycon Fresh Foods

When you order you’ll first choose your meat and then choose a pickup location. Since we live near Ogden, I picked up our order up at the First United Methodist Church. They send a confirmation and reminder the day before your pickup time. I ordered 25 lbs. of Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon Fillets for my first order which was $7.99 a lb. Next I ordered boneless, skinless chicken breast and lastly, I ordered shrimp from Argentina.

I’ll go over what I thought about each below. Overall though, Zaycon is so reasonably priced. You’ll eat like a queen on a pauper’s budget! Fire up the grill and invite your friends over! Here’s what one customer said:

“I kept a spreadsheet on all of the items we purchased and the cost of those items on the day using Walmart’s online site. This year we’ve ordered 22 different items for a total spend of $2,518. For the same items we saved $950 for the year compared with Walmart. Also, the quality does not even come close. Thank you Zaycon…”

The combination of getting fresh meat straight from the producer, the quality suppliers and the price make Zaycon Fresh a very attractive combination to palate and pocketbook.

You need to register on the site to see Zaycon Fresh prices, pickup locations and selection. Go to the Zaycon Site HERE and register (or login if already a member). When you register you also get notified of sales and what is currently available. Seafood seems to be the least frequent of the meat – it’s available every few months.

The thing you must know about Zaycon is that you need to plan ahead. You need to order before you need the meat. So if you love to barbecue you have to order your chicken, hot dogs and steak so you get it in time for summer. I personally think it would be great for family reunions or large gatherings. You also have to plan ahead and free up time to process your order the same night that you pick it up. Or, you’ll need to have enough refrigerator space to hold it until you can divide your meat into smaller portions.

There are several Zaycon Fresh locations in Utah to pick up orders as well as locations in many states. My pickup location is only about 7 minutes from my house.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is Zaycon chicken organic?
At this time, Zaycon has not been Certified Organic by the USDA, but all animals are humanely raised and processed in the US. Minimal processing is used.

2. Is Zaycon chicken antibiotic free?
Antibiotics are only used in low levels as necessary to prevent disease and for animal welfare. However, 100% of Zaycon’s processed chicken products are free of residual antibiotics through adherence to FDA-approved withdrawal times so it’s classified as hormone free. Animals are randomly inspected by the USDA to ensure that they are clear of all antibiotic residue. No hormones or steroids are used.

3. What is Zaycon’s return policy?
Zaycon gives you 30 days to request a refund if there are any issues with your purchase.

4. Where can I get promo codes?
Register and make sure your email address is up to date – the company will email coupon codes and let you know what’s available. Remember that not everything stays in stock, it can sell out or only be offered on occasion (based on availability). So when you see a product you want come up, order it right away. It might be a month or two before it’s available again.

5. Does Zaycon offer smaller quantities or sample packs?
To keep costs down, Zaycon only carries the specific product(s) for a particular sales event. Products come from different suppliers, so they cannot create a sample pack without handling the product (and adding to the cost). You get quality bulk foods at a low price. The only way they can offer these prices is by buying in bulk and using wholesale packaging. You can always split an order with friends. There are also local Zaycon Facebook groups for Zaycon customers where you can find others to split an order with.

Overall, I’m a big fan of Zaycon and can’t wait to try more products! How about you, have you tried Zaycon Foods? What did you think? Looking forward to hear your reviews of Zaycon Fresh.
